Chiharu-Roach_featured-artwork_72dpiIt is our pleasure to announce that the artwork of Birmingham artist, Chiharu Roach, was selected for Moss Rock Festival’s (MRF) 10th annual Poster. Chiharu was born and bred in Nagoya, Japan and immigrated to the United States 15 years ago. She attended UAB where she graduated with a Bachelor of Art Studio degree. Eventually she started showing her work in the community at at local art shows where she quickly received a lot of interest and buzz from patrons and collectors alike. We’ve been lucky to have her artwork in the mix at Moss Rock Festival’s Artist Row since 2012, and look forward to spotlighting it across MRF’s media campaign as we celebrate the eco-creative festival’s decade milestone.

If you are familiar with Chi and her work, you know the purity of her creative spirit, the skill of her hand, and the fine detail of the the wildlife and other subjects she brings to life in her paintings. Any piece of Chi’s would be wonderful on the poster, and a great compliment to the art, nature, and eco themes threaded throughout the festival footprint. Instead of choosing an existing work for the poster, we asked Chi to create a piece especially for MRF. After seeing a few equally fabulous illustrations, we settled on the piece spotlighting indigenous insects (butterfly, bees, lady bugs, and a cicada), a bird, organic foliage, and more. We absolutely love it!

Stay tuned for our Featured Artist Interview with Chi in October. Plus, watch out for a special blog post showing how her painting progressed from illustration to the finished work above. Amazing to see! See more of Chi’s work here.

Only 6 more weeks til Nature, Eco Ideas, Art + Design at The Preserve in Hoover. Mark those calendars! And follow us in October for all details, giveaways, and special features.
