Before we unveil the 2019 Moss Rock Festival poster, it is our pleasure to announce that Huntsville’s Sarah Conklin has been selected as the Featured Artist of the 2019 Fall Festival exploring Nature, Smart Living, Art + Design & more at The Preserve in Hoover, AL November 2-3. As the featured artist, Sarah’s work will be showcased at the Festival, on the 2019 poster and t-shirt, plus the larger marketing campaign reaching Hoover, Birmingham, and the region.
You may be be expecting a wildlife subject to be the focus of Moss Rock Festival’s poster design. Some wonderful ones have brought it to life the last 6 years by artists like Susan Shoemaker, Darrell Ezekiel, Chiharu Roach, Paul Cordes Wilm, Tracie Noles-Ross, and Deborah Davis. But for our 14th anniversary, we decided to change things up a bit while still keeping the poster imagery closely connected with the festival’s eco-creative and nature-focused mission. We can’t wait for you to see it! But first, a little more about why we selected Sarah.
We love how Sarah’s art and textile works effortlessly bring to life her delightful and quirky musings about nature. Sarah moves through multiple steps in her eco-creative artistic process, from her initial graphic sketches to the fabric selection to print future works onto sourced from various second hand stores. Sarah’s work also embodies elements of recycling, sustainability, simplicity, and functionality. And the craftsmanship and care she gives each unique creation promises a long life cycle and a recurring place in your everyday life. That’s very Moss Rock!
